Founding Leading Ladies Members
The Luminous Leading Ladies Mentoring Program is the result of its Founder and CEO, Janique Robinson, discovering her innate desire to help young girls grow and glow very early in life. For the past 16 years, she has taken it upon herself to mentor and empower young girls irrespective of their background or colour. In her capacity, she has helped provide some of these young ladies with basic necessities. Together with her mentees, LLL has participated in a series of humanitarian activities, especially those of feeding the homeless and helping kids with disabilities. Janique has also organized career sessions in which she talked to girls about understanding their purpose, remembering their why, setting goals, believing in themselves, emotional consistency, remaining focused when doubt and insecurities are plaguing them, and real life situations.
In 2016, Janique expanded her mentoring to start Leading Ladies as an enrichment program while working at a high school in Englewood on the southside of Chicago.
Spurred by these monumental successes and new city, Janique decided to expand her outreach and this decision birthed LLL. After several forthcomings, LLL was incorporated in 2020. Alongside her leadership team, she has been working assiduously to introduce enriching programs and enlist exemplary mentors who will charge young ladies to conquer the world.
With the mindset that greatness isn’t a measure of material wealth but rather a measure of the number of lives one has impacted, there is evidence of this in the joy, happiness, and radiance that overcomes those involved whenever young ladies share testimonies of how Janique has helped them discover their purpose, direction, worth, value, and potential. Striving to develop a system in which young ladies support one another, in which collaboration is fostered amongst young ladies, and in which mentors act as big sisters to the mentees, the value of mentorship is underscored within LLL.
Janique draws from her own experience with personal mentors in her career field and also looks up to women of integrity as role models. LLL’s hope is that the girls will learn from mentors’ experiences, avoid mentors’ mistakes, and blossom into confident women and great leaders. No two ladies are alike, and the approach has to be based on each lady’s strengths and weaknesses. Starting with tutoring a friend’s sister, Janique has since then mentored numerous girls and has volunteered to give back on countless occasions. “Heart Work that comes from the Heart.”
